We thought we'd try the internet early this morning – it is very limited at the moment as we have to comply with Japanese maritime regulations and the satellite must be switched off within 12 nautical miles radius from land!!.... Could not believe what we found – first an email from the Goodwill Association apologizing for not meeting up with our guide yesterday and asking if there was a problem, then second email from our Goodwill Guide "YOKO", again apologizing for not finding us yesterday – WHAT IS GOING ON – WE DID FIND YOKO AND HAD A GREAT DAY!!!!! The penny started to drop as we retraced our steps… firstly after coming out of Customs, we had seen a lonely Japanese girl holding a sign in the distance, we waved and she waved back…. by the time we reached her, she had put the sign in her bag – get the picture – this was not 'our Yoko'!!! We introduced ourselves and off we went and had a lovely day. We did cross paths during the day with another couple who had a guide and today we told them of our experience and they told us they had seen the girl with a sign saying "Thompson"!!! We have tried to contact the Thompsons on the ship but they haven't returned our call……
Anyway, after our very strange start to the day we did an early walk , then we played Canasta - the boys did well and are still in the lead……. we will continue next sea day. It was then off to our Cruise Critics lunch (usually on a Sunday but we'll be in Osaka tomorrow) - a good time was had by all.
We then sent off emails to the Goodwill Association and also to the right Yoko, so we await their replies (perhaps we might have a wait as it is a long weekend). Oh well, these things happen – but it won't happen to us again, we will always double check who our guide is and who they are going to 'guide'.
Somehow the afternoon disappeared. We had a special guest at dinner tonight – "Kitty" who we purchased today, couldn't resist and everyone enjoyed her company – she's solar powered and just waves and waves, until the lights go out!! It was Lawrence's birthday today so he had cake for us to share.
We're still scratching our heads about our mystery guide and hope we are able to find out what happened!!! No show tonight, early to bed to prepare for another big port day.
