Days 33 - Sunday, 14th Oct. - Sea Day

When one has the time, as one does on sea days, it is interesting to read the section on the front of the Patter as I/we don't think too much about all the little islands around us literally all the time.  So  "From the Navigator" it goes like this today –

'Throughout the day Sun Princess will continue on a south-south-easterly course through the North Pacific Ocean.  At approx.. 1pm she will pass 15miles east of Lamotrek Island and 23miles west-north-west of Satawal Island in the Caroline Islands.

189 miles south west of Guam is Challenger Deep which, at 10,898m, is the deepest known place on the earth's sea floor.  The first measurement of its depth was made by HMS Challenger in 1875 with the first manned descent to the floor being made by the Submarine Trieste in 1960.'   ………… Very interesting!!

Big excitement this morning as the Great Sun Princess Boat Building Challenge Final was on and there were 4 contestants.  All were unique and the weather was perfect for the event.  All boats actually stayed afloat and it was fun watching the proud builders explain the engineering that went into the actual craft they had created.  There is a picture of the winner and another.

No cards this morning as we had another Sunday lunch with our Cruise Critic group which as usual, was very pleasant.  We said our farewells to Kathy & Dan, our American comrades, as they leave the ship in Brisbane, so won't be at our final lunch next Sunday.  Nice meeting you both Kathy & Dan – you never know, we might meet up again one day.

The afternoon just slipped by and before we knew it, we were wining and dining again.  There was a Production Show tonight – 'Save the Last Dance' and although we have seen many of these before, it was very, very good – a great group of very talented singers and dancers.

Oh goody – another sea day tomorrow!!
